Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Andi Slavik and Susanne Kemmler Close To Heaven imageWhen you buy a Andi Slavik and Susanne Kemmler album, you know exactly what you’re getting! Lead single “Indian Spirits” and “Close To Heaven” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Andi Slavik and Susanne Kemmler was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Andi Slavik and Susanne Kemmler and Close To Heaven together. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Close To Heaven.

This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. Can You Heal Me? the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Overall a nice softer song. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Summer Of Love is the song that really did it for me. Wrong Or Right still maintains something of a specific flourish. Will I Be Faithful? presents the exquisite mix of instruments on Close To Heaven. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. Jonas’ Song - I like this one.

Aeoliah Echoes of Tomorrow: Music Anthology 2 mp3

Aeoliah Echoes of Tomorrow: Music Anthology 2 imageAeoliah was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Aeoliah and Echoes of Tomorrow: Music Anthology 2 together. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Aeoliah on ‘Planetary Anthem’. four years ago, Aeoliah briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Inner Chamber”. Echoes of Tomorrow: Music Anthology 2 is the best essence of Aeoliah.

Song Inner Chamber is actually a funny song. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Rising in Love is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Echoes of Tomorrow: Music Anthology 2. Dolphin Serenade catches attention immediately, We Are One Light is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. Awakening is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. Opening track True Love shows the best of Aeoliah. Sirius Via Andromeda I just LOVE this mix! Majesty hits the heart. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. I like the agression and power of 1001 Nights. This track is clearly meant to showcase Aeoliah’s vocal abilities.

Kim Robertson Treasures Of The Celtic Harp mp3

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Kim Robertson Treasures Of The Celtic Harp imageTreasures Of The Celtic Harp really suprise for me from Kim Robertson. It’s natural for Kim Robertson to take a stab at ‘Glenlivet’ considering her long-professed love for One. Great album Treasures Of The Celtic Harp - just must listen it! You need to listen Treasures Of The Celtic Harp right now

The sound in I Love My Love In The Morning is really warm and Kim Robertson’s signature voice is still very much present. Overall a nice softer song. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. New Leaves actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Kim Robertson’s face. Kim Robertson has astounded me with this amazing track. Luminous Seemiss Brown’s Fancy is one of my favorite songs by Kim Robertson. Shule Aroon without a doubt is the standout song of Treasures Of The Celtic Harp. I think Flowers Of The Forest is the best song Kim Robertson has ever done. Sleep Soon Ida Mornin’ - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. Tree Of Liberty is really the reason why I recommend buying Treasures Of The Celtic Harp. Etude had me crying as I was able to relate so well. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Merrily Kissed The Quaker. Fairly Shut Of Her can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Kim Robertson is all about. I listened to the opening track Londonderry Air and liked it a lot. Waulking O’ The Fauld is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track.

Esteban and Andres Segovia Flamenco Y Rosas mp3

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Esteban and Andres Segovia Flamenco Y Rosas imageFlamenco Y Rosas really suprise for me from Esteban and Andres Segovia. Esteban and Andres Segovia’s debut, ‘Flamenco Y Rosas’, does not fit easily into one genre. On the Jamaica charts, superstar Esteban and Andres Segovia’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. Flamenco Y Rosas constantly brilliant.

Lonely Bull is just simply stunning. Besame Mucho Intro is the first taste of the new album. Besame Mucho is a good listen every once in a while. Perfidia (Intro) is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Some call Perfidia from Flamenco Y Rosas as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. I can’t stop playing Runaway. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Flamenco Y Rosas. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. I listened to the opening track Maria Elena (Intro) and liked it a lot. The song feels complete. El Rio De Vida is probably the highlight of the album. Spanish Eyes (Intro) - a classic song. Album opener Spanish Eyes is a bright, upbeat ditty. When listening to Soleares, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Bulerias - A catchy, upbeat tune. Tarantas (Intro) - A strong beat. Tarantas is one of the best records ever. Guajiras which is my favorite is a truly Esteban and Andres Segovia sounding song. Malaguena (Intro) is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Malaguena - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem.

Dan Gibson Rolling Thunder imageWhen you buy a Dan Gibson album, you know exactly what you’re getting! This is one of the best Cd’s Dan Gibson has dropped to date. Dan Gibson was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Dan Gibson and Rolling Thunder together. IT makes me wanna dance!

Rolling Thunder - Check out that bassline! This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. I like to sing along with Still Waters, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. This song stands out greatly from the others. As always, Dan Gibson’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Simple and heartfelt closing track Shrouded Wonder closes Rolling Thunder on a high note. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. Fade Away is marvelous work of Dan Gibson.

Savina Yannatou Primavera En Salonico imagePrimavera En Salonico CD - one of the best in New Age. Savina Yannatou is work hard for Primavera En Salonico. Primavera En Salonico really suprise for me from Savina Yannatou. Primavera En Salonico constantly brilliant.

El Sueno De La Hija A Del Rey which is my favorite is a truly Savina Yannatou sounding song. Los Bilbilicos is a sure sign of something most of us are experiencing, maturity. Morenica makes a person feel cool. Savina Yannatou breathes new life into the music in Tres Hermanicas Eran. Morena is simple, dignified and effective, Savina Yannatou refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Yedi Kule rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. It’s such an underrated song. Por Que Lloras, Blanca Nina is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Savina Yannatou has astounded me with this amazing track. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Nani Nani because the melody in the chorus is so good. Jaco - A classic Savina Yannatou track. Ya Salio De La Mar La Galana is Savina Yannatou’s best work in years. El Encalador is a bit of a show-tune. Durme, Hermoso Hijico - A nice song. Primavera En Salonico is simply astounding.

New Age - Various Artists Beijing Angelic Choir - Lullabies From Around The World imageThis disc has all of the essential New Age - Various Artists classics. John Digester has compared writing for New Age - Various Artists’s new album to that on ‘Beijing Angelic Choir - Lullabies From Around The World’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. I am not a real New Age music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Beijing Angelic Choir - Lullabies From Around The World’ really is amazing. Last Hot Album by New Age - Various Artists

Lullaby (Brahms) (Germany) is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Lyrics of Lullaby (Italy) are precise and evocative. Children Are Asleep (Russia) - To me, this is the best song on the Beijing Angelic Choir - Lullabies From Around The World. You have to get essence of the Autumn Night (England)’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Sleep, Darling Baby (Mexico) - A strong beat. Lullaby (Schubert) (Austria) very upbeat. Lullaby (America) - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of New Age - Various Artists. Flow Gently Sweet Afton (J.E. Spilman) is a bit different from New Age - Various Artists stereotypical stuff. Voice of New Age - Various Artists in Lullaby (Japan) is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. I was truly moved when I heard Yi-Li Yi-Li (Phillipines). Lullaby (France) actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on New Age - Various Artists’s face. Lullaby (India) is the most memorable and marvelous.

Lara and Reyes Guitarras Hermanas mp3

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Lara and Reyes Guitarras Hermanas imageLara and Reyes had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Stanley Donwood has compared writing for Lara and Reyes’s new album to that on ‘Guitarras Hermanas’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. This disc has all of the essential Lara and Reyes classics. If I may, I suggest “Cielo sin Nubes (Uncloudy Sky)”. That one song is amazing!

In Sabor a Mi (A Taste of Me) the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. Strong, powerful vocals of Lara and Reyes in Viene Clareando (Becoming Clear) are very impressive. Barrios de San Antonio (Neighborhoods of San Antonio) - Check out that bassline! Bajo las Sombras (Beneath the Shadows) is a amazing song and it grows on you. Besos Rosas (Pink Kisses) is one of these floating songs. Ojos del Mar (Eyes of the Sea) pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. The sound in Cotton Candy is really warm and Lara and Reyes’s signature voice is still very much present. Lejos de Aqui (Far Away) is the funkiest number on the album. Vocals of Lara and Reyes in Waltz for John and Paco really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm.

Sojiro Light Classics mp3

Sojiro Light Classics imageFor older fans Light Classics will put a massive smile accross your face. Thom Yorke has compared writing for Sojiro’s new album to that on ‘Light Classics’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Since Sojiro last CD (Light Classics) on Anthem Records back in 1995, I have felt a massive void in my life. One of Sojiro’s best albums yet.

I now have (Japanese Titles) as one of my personal favorites. The opening track (Japanese Titles) is very much like you would expect from other albums. (Japanese Titles) is simple, dignified and effective, Sojiro refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. It took me a little time but I ended up loving (Japanese Titles). In (Japanese Titles) the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. (Japanese Titles) hits the heart. I came to like (Japanese Titles). Sojiro is one of artists that allow his songs like (Japanese Titles) to stand on their own and be heard. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Light Classics. Although (Japanese Titles) is very melodic it is far from sad. Listening to (Japanese Titles) you can hear that Sojiro has still amazing chemistry with band members. (Japanese Titles) sets the tone for the entire album. (Japanese Titles) - This is a very lively song. (Japanese Titles) to me is the best you can get from Sojiro. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. (Japanese Titles) has a fun tempo. (Japanese Titles) is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. First time I heard (Japanese Titles) was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Sojiro.

In Tree Of Light Deuter is at his best. Afrique is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Night In Ubud. Grey Wolf gives good insight into the truths. No Deuter song has come close to capturing my attention as Magic Island did. Shen is pretty funky and mellow. City Of Light is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track.

Lullaby (Brahms) (Germany) on Lullabies From Around The World is solid and easy to listen to. Lullaby (Italy) - A nice song. Children Are Asleep (Russia) - Okay, I just talked about depth. Autumn Night (England) is worth the money. In Sleep, Darling Baby (Mexico) Beijing Angelic Choir is at his best. Roberto Carlos Nakai How The West Was Lost, Volume 2 (1993 TV Documentary Series) mp3

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

Roberto Carlos Nakai How The West Was Lost, Volume 2 (1993 TV Documentary Series) imageSince completing 1995’s ‘How The West Was Lost: Overture’, Roberto Carlos Nakai fulfilled their contract with Camcor Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This is one of greatest albums of Roberto Carlos Nakai. Lead single “How The West Was Lost: Overture” and “How The West Was Lost (Seminole)” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Enjoy the show.

Roberto Carlos Nakai emotions are reflected through How The West Was Lost (Seminole). Themes For The Cherokee is simple, dignified and effective, Roberto Carlos Nakai refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Hand In Hand is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. Our Land, Our Life is one of the more up-tempo songs on How The West Was Lost, Volume 2 (1993 TV Documentary Series). Best song on the album, love it. The Seminole Everglades is another favourite of mine. Challenge At White River - A catchy, upbeat tune. A fantastic track full of wonder. A unique and uplifting song. Indian Territory is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Roberto Carlos Nakai ever produced. White River Utes is the marvelous blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Landscape Of War is the albums biggest surprise. This song stands out greatly from the others. Slight Of Land to me is the best you can get from Roberto Carlos Nakai. Iroquois Longhouse - For me, this is the best of the album. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Chief Ouray’s Death Song, which shows, blatantly, how much Roberto Carlos Nakai has evolved as a singer. The sound of The Cherokee’s Brother is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Everglade Farewell is a strong cut, one of many. Roberto Carlos Nakai rocks harder than ever with Grandmother’s Lament. Dance Of The North is a great opener for How The West Was Lost, Volume 2 (1993 TV Documentary Series). Roberto Carlos Nakai sings Dakota Medicine in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. How The West Was Lost: Closing Theme - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Roberto Carlos Nakai.

Scorpio Rising is the more seemingly obscure song on Heart to Heart that bear up best to repeated listening. Awakening - This one makes me want to not only sing along. As always, Nadama’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Intimacy has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Nadama’s strong vocals come to the fore. Voice of Nadama in Light of Heart is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Listening to New Dawn you can hear that Nadama has still amazing chemistry with band members. Joy in Being one of the best in my collection. Follow your Heart is the marvelous blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Clannad on ‘Theme From The Dolphin Connection’. I Love Clannad Themes from start to finish!

Music of Cooking It Up is gentle, never overbearing. Heathaze rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Ocean Of Dremas actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on James Asher’s face. Pemulwuy Returns motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others.

Brent Lewis Pulse...When The Rhythm Begins imageThis is one of the best Cd’s Brent Lewis has dropped to date. There is no doubt that Brent Lewis has talent and Pulse…When The Rhythm Begins is great.Pulse…When The Rhythm Begins carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Pulse…When The Rhythm Begins is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.

In Drums On The Niles full palet of sound is used by Brent Lewis to accentuate the presentation. Witch Doctor is probably one of Brent Lewis’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. In The Bird the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. Best song on the album, love it. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. Brent Lewis sings Mumbo Jumbo in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. This song is dynamic and dramatic. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. The Boatman is worth the money.

This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. Dance Of The Cherubs is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Since New Age - Various Artists last CD (Lame electrique) on Carrot Top Records back in 1995, I have felt a massive void in my life. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by New Age - Various Artists. If you want to hear real New Age, get this record now!

Once you hear Phenomena Of Visitation, you will listen to it over and over. Nice and different song. I loved La Somnambule the first time I heard it. I hope to keep hearing New Age - Various Artists works for a long time to come. Le Reve 2 is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. La Machine Moderne stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Le Reve 1 is a gorgeous song and it grows on you. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. Hallucigenia is really the reason why I recommend buying Lame electrique. I like to sing along with Unreal Cinema 1, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes.
