Richard Searles Celtic Cross imageIF YOU LIKE ALL Richard Searles’S SONG GO FOR IT! Now signed to Richard Searles’s Creeping Bent (record label), the title track from second album “Celtic Cross” leads Richard Searles’s back-to-school campaign. Since completing 1995’s ‘Cabalgata’, Richard Searles fulfilled their contract with Creeping Bent (record label) and where under no obligation to release another album. It is very deep stuff.

A Thousand Curses On Love is a great opener for Celtic Cross. In Wet Is The Night it becomes nowhere more obvious that Richard Searles has yet to define own style. Abercairney House - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. An Dro I just LOVE this mix! Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. Rondes (2:38) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Sir Festus Burke is exquisite and different song. Richard Searles allows each song to breathe and flourish. In The White Houses Of Sheildaig full palet of sound is used by Richard Searles to accentuate the presentation. The Bedding Of The Bride is a very catchy tune. Laride A Six Temps is probably the highlight of the album. The song Clanranald ending is my favorite… so catchy! The Fyket - This one is lively and fun. I find myself hearing bits of An Occasional Song here and there throughout my waking hours. Galician Dance is a song to enjoy for years to come. The Haggis is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. No Surrender without a doubt is the standout song of Celtic Cross. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin.

Loreena McKennitt A Winter Garden (Five Songs For The Season) imageLoreena McKennitt was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Loreena McKennitt and A Winter Garden (Five Songs For The Season) together. Rikki Toldo has compared writing for Loreena McKennitt’s new album to that on ‘A Winter Garden (Five Songs For The Season)’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. I guess you need to listen A Winter Garden (Five Songs For The Season) as soon as possible. IF you love Loreena McKennitt, ‘A Winter Garden (Five Songs For The Season)’ Mp3’s is the best!

God Rest Ye Merry Gentelmen - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Good King Wenceslas is a cool song and it grows on you. Show is a medium tempo tune. Seeds Of Love is nothing but pure genius.

Folk - Various Artists Heritage of Ireland imageIt’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Folk - Various Artists energies, virtually a rebirth. After seeing Christy Keany / Danny Boy, I had to have a good Folk - Various Artists CD. Since completing 1995’s ‘Christy Keany / Danny Boy’, Folk - Various Artists fulfilled their contract with Bridge Records, Inc. and where under no obligation to release another album. It is very deep stuff.

What sets Waxies Dargle / Rocky Road to Dublin apart is Folk - Various Artists’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. The Royal Irish Rangers and Ann-Marie O’Farrell / Sleivenamon is the funkiest number on the album. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Waxies Dargle / Finnegan’s Wake - For me, this is the best of the album. Put The Blarney Lads / Black Velvet Band into car stereo for your highway driving Get Heritage of Ireland and turn on Waxies Dargle / The Fields of Athenry if you are going to sip your wine late at night. Music in Waxies Dargle / The Sally Gardens is gorgeous as in all tracks of Heritage of Ireland. This song is dynamic and dramatic. The Blarney Lads / Muirsheen Durkin is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. The Blarney Lads / Molly Malone (2:26) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Waxies Dargle / O’Carolan’s Concerto - My least favorite song on this album. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. The Blarney Lads / Bold O’Donaghue is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Folk - Various Artists.

Friday, February 1st, 2008

Elbereth ... and Other Reasons image‘… and Other Reasons’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. This -song debut EP shows the promise that Elbereth has. When you buy a Elbereth album, you know exactly what you’re getting! … and Other Reasons album is a scorcher!

First time I heard The Idyllic Place Of Innocence was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.I now have The End Of The 2Nd Act as one of my personal favorites. April Rain has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Four Roses In My Heart - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Elbereth. The Beautiful Short Story very upbeat. Crystal World still maintains something of a specific flourish. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. So Much Affliction is a good listen every once in a while. Elbereth sings Fallen Leaves in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Forgotten Forever - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Nostalgic Harmonies Brings The Wind the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Autumn Concert actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Elbereth’s face.

Folk - Various Artists The Women 1995 mp3

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

Folk - Various Artists The Women 1995 imageAfter seeing Mantle Of Green (Aoife Clancy), I had to have a good Folk - Various Artists CD. On the Mexico charts, superstar Folk - Various Artists’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. There is no doubt that Folk - Various Artists has talent and The Women 1995 is great.Folk - Various Artists “The Women 1995″ is an amazing album.

Is Fada Liom Uaim I (Maighread Ni Dhomhnaill) is astounding. Some call Sliabh Gallion Braes (Dolores Keane) from The Women 1995 as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Reels- Teh Boys Of The Lough , Upstairs In A Tent (Joanie Madden) is the more seemingly obscure song on The Women 1995 that bear up best to repeated listening. Blew our minds when we first heard Green Grows The Laurel (Dolores Keane). The song feels complete. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. Listening to Polkas- The Glinn Cottage, Jer O’connell’s, Tom’s Tavern (Cherish The Ladies) you can hear that Folk - Various Artists has still amazing chemistry with band members. Johnny Lovely Johnny (Dolores Keane) makes a person feel perfect. Slow Air , Na Connerys (Maire Ni Ghrada) has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Folk - Various Artists’s strong vocals come to the fore. You can find feelings on this piece of art. There is cool mix of music in Digeas A’damhsa (Maire Ni Bhraonain With Clanna). As always, Folk - Various Artists’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. An Clar Bog Deil (Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh) is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. End Of Winter (Antoinette Mckenna) as a highlight of The Women 1995 contains a ton of exquisite melodies. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. In Slow Air , Aisling Jul (Maire Breatnach) it becomes nowhere more obvious that Folk - Various Artists has yet to define own style. An Spailpin Fanach (Treasa Ni Mhiollain) (1:46) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Folk - Various Artists emotions are reflected through Slow Air , Ros Dubh (Maire Ni Chathasaigh). This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Folk - Various Artists rocks harder than ever with Jigs Cailin Na Seachtaine , The Kirk In The Morning (Maire Ni Ghrada).

Iona Journey Into The Morn imageThere were many famous songs of Iona available. While no new Iona album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1995 tour in Asia. On Journey Into The Morn album, Iona have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Enjoy the show.

The first time I listened to Irish Day I was struck by its gorgeous sound. Wisdom is a strong cut, one of many. Everything Changes (5:35) - awsome. Inside My Heart is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. Encircling is one of the best records ever. Journey Into The Morn is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Lindisfarne is another favourite of mine. In No Heart Beats the music gets its power. The Search is simply amazing. Divine Presence is a striking and quite long song. Heaven’s Bright Sun is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Bi-Se Mo Shuil - Part 2 is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer.

Folk - Various Artists Scotland - World Network 32 imageSince completing 1995’s ‘Tuddal Troll’, Folk - Various Artists fulfilled their contract with Aporia Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Catherine-Ann MacPhee - S’Flin - I like this one. Phil Cunningham - Jackson’s Se rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Dick Gaughan - Bonnie Jeanie is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Dick Gaughan - Such A Parcel O is such a gorgeous and optimistic song that things can get just better. The Pogues Pogue Mahaone mp3

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

The Pogues Pogue Mahaone imagePogue Mahaone isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. On Pogue Mahaone album, The Pogues have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Since The Pogues last CD (Pogue Mahaone) on Arts & Crafts (record label) back in 1995, I have felt a massive void in my life. How Come and Living In A World Without Her is really good.

Don’t judge Living In A World Without Her on the first listening. This song is dynamic and dramatic. If you are a The Pogues fan, you will love Anniversary. The Pogues sings his heart out in Amadie. As always, The Pogues’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Bright Lights makes a person feel gorgeous. The Pogues rocks harder than ever with Oretown. Pont Mirabeau is the gorgeous blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Tosspint - To me, this is the best song on the Pogue Mahaone. The Pogues offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Where That Love’s Been Gone is astounding. The Sun And The Moon is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle.

Capercaillie and Carter Burwell Rob Roy imageCapercaillie and Carter Burwell is work hard for Rob Roy. Rob Roy one of my best. ‘Rob Roy’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Rob Roy is one of Capercaillie and Carter Burwell best albums

Love And Death Suite - A classic Capercaillie and Carter Burwell track. Born By Rapids - I like this one. In Morag’s Lament Capercaillie and Carter Burwell is at his best. Rannoch Moor Suite is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Theid Mi Dhachaigh is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Put A Standing Stone, A Silk Purse into car stereo for your highway driving I like to sing along with Highland Justice, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. There is astounding mix of music in The Blunt Reels. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Honor Inflamed had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Don’t judge Troops In The Mist on the first listening. The Last Peaceful Night is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. The Gaelic Reels is simple, dignified and effective, Capercaillie and Carter Burwell refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. Some of the arrangements found on Rob Roy are surprisingly edgy. Hard Earth - a classic song. This song is dynamic and dramatic. A great put together song.

Dan Ar Braz En Concert imageEn Concert carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Dan Ar Braz was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Dan Ar Braz and En Concert together. Great album En Concert - just must listen it! En Concert is awesome.

Left In Peace is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after En Concert have ended. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Ker Ys. En Concert couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Call To The Dance. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. Green Lands have really caught my ear and imagination. Once you hear Suite De Kopanitza, you will listen to it over and over. Still going through En Concert and coming to appreciate Eleanor more and more with every listen. Ailein Duinn (Dark Alan) is the funkiest number on the album. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. Language Of The Gaels is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in En Concert. Spike Island Lasses The Flogging Reel is almost impossible to review.

Tri Yann Portraits imageThis is one of greatest albums of Tri Yann. For older fans Portraits will put a massive smile accross your face. Portraits is an amazing album, racked with beauty.Smart music for smart people.

Arthur Plantagenest (4:01) - awsome. The first time I listened to Goulven Sala I was struck by its astounding sound. Gerry Adams is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. After you’ve listened to Madeleine Bernard, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Marie-Camille Lehuede is another strong production from Tri Yann. First time I heard Brian Boru was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Voyage. I’ve found myself listening to Proc back to back and back many times. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Alo is my favorite song on Portraits. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. Music in Adieu is exquisite as in all tracks of Portraits. Bagne is the kind of record that makes you remember why music can be so addictive. Tri Yann allows each song to breathe and flourish. Seznec Est Innocent! on Portraits is solid and easy to listen to.

Tri Yann Inventaire Vol. 2 mp3

Monday, July 9th, 2007

Tri Yann Inventaire Vol. 2 imageInventaire Vol. 2 really suprise for me from Tri Yann. While no new Tri Yann album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1995 tour in South America. I guess you need to listen Inventaire Vol. 2 as soon as possible. Enjoy the show.

Korydwen Et Le Rouge De Kenholl as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Le Tourdion Des Manants is Tri Yann’s best work in years. Tri Yann is one of artists that allow his songs like Kimiad Eur Paour Kaez Den Oblijet Da Guitad E Vro to stand on their own and be heard. Lyrics of An Tourter are precise and evocative. La Ville De La Rochelle is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. Suite Ecossaise is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. All of songs on Inventaire Vol. 2 and have something to say letting alone Complainte Gallaise. Tri Yann is hitting on all cylinders in Quand La Bergere. Hanter-Dro Macabre is a astounding song and it grows on you. Kiss The Children For Me Mary the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Les Echevins De Nantes makes a person feel gorgeous. Mrs Mac Dermott is the more seemingly obscure song on Inventaire Vol. 2 that bear up best to repeated listening. A unique and uplifting song. I hope to keep hearing Tri Yann works for a long time to come. Maluron Lurette is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Tri Yann released so far. Les Filles Des Forges (Pile-Menu) sets the tone for the entire album. Johnny Monfarleau “Madame Bolduc” is the most memorable and astounding.

Anuna Anuna mp3

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

Anuna Anuna imageAfter seeing Media Vita, I had to have a good Anuna CD. Self-described as Celtic with lots of words, Anuna comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. fourteen years ago, Anuna briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “The First Day (Mary’s Breastplate)”. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is The First Day (Mary’s Breastplate)

The First Day (Mary’s Breastplate) is probably one of Anuna’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. I’ve found myself listening to Invocation back to back and back many times. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. Sanctus is the kind of record that makes you remember why music can be so addictive. Pater Noster - This one makes me want to not only sing along. Faigh an Gleas (1:22) - awsome. In Suantrai full palet of sound is used by Anuna to accentuate the presentation. Bean Phaidin/An Poc Ar Buile is amazing song though, very addictive. Anuna rocks harder than ever with Cormacus Scripsit. This song is dynamic and dramatic. Jerusalem is another strong production from Anuna. Fionnghuala is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. In Crist and St. Marie Anuna is at his best. Anuna couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track The Blue Bird. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Si Do Mhaimeo I.

The Corrs Forgiven, Not Forgotten imageThis is the first studio album from The Corrs since bad diagnosis in 1995. The Corrs is work hard for Forgiven, Not Forgotten. I am not a real Celtic music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Forgiven, Not Forgotten’ really is amazing. IT makes me wanna dance!

Heaven Knows is probably one of The Corrs’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Along With The Girls (Instrumental) actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on The Corrs’s face. Someday - another great track from the Forgiven, Not Forgotten album. Runaway marked the continuation of The Corrs in style evolution. The Right Time is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. One listen to the sheer beauty of The Minstrel Boy (Instrumental) was all I needed. Toss The Feathers (Instrumental) is a very catchy tune. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. The Corrs is hitting on all cylinders in Secret Life. I like the agression and power of Carraroe Jig (Instrumental). Closer is one of these floating songs. Leave Me Alone is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything The Corrs released so far. Erin Shore (Instrumental) on Forgiven, Not Forgotten is solid and easy to listen to.

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

Alan Stivell Brian Boru imageIt has been eleven years Alan Stivell’ last studio CD, “Brian Boru” which won Academy Awards’½ and was nominated for album of the year. ‘Brian Boru’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Alan Stivell had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. I love Brian Boru so much, i’ve been crazy about Alan Stivell ever.

Let The Plinn - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Alan Stivell has astounded me with this amazing track. Ye Banks and Braes as a highlight of Brian Boru contains a ton of cool melodies. Mairi’s Wedding is the song that really did it for me. Cease Fire is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Brian Boru. De’ ha bla’ marked the continuation of Alan Stivell in style evolution. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. After you’ve listened to Parlamant Lament, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Alan Stivell rocks harder than ever with Lands Of My Father.
